Pascal Delbeck, Chateau Tour du Pas St Georges

Pascal is one of my oldest and wisest winemaking friends in the Bordeaux region has now passed over day to day control to his daughter Marie-Amandine, whom I first met in the maternity wing of Libourne hospital within a day or so of her birth. At that time Pascal was in charge of the vineyards and the cellar at the neighbouring properties of Chateau Ausone and Chateau Bel Air, two of the finest vineyards on the limestone bedrock of the St Emilion ‘Côte’. Following the death of the owner, Madame Dubois-Challon, Pascal continued to live at Bel Air which was left to him in her will, a clear tribute to his skill and integrity, but eventually that vineyard was acquired by the Moueix family and Pascal devoted himself to his vineyard of Tour du Pas St Georges, a few kilometres to the north of St Emilion itself. Here he has overseen the production of a thoroughly authentic wine of its ‘terroir’ which we have bought with much enthusiasm, both for its quality and its extraordinary value for money .
