Domaine de la Biscarelle
Chateauneuf du Pape has been conspicuous by its absence from our catalogue so I was delighted to find a good producer to rectify this omission. The recent creation in 2009 of Domaine de la Biscarelle by Jerome and Christelle Grieco caught my attention and I was thrilled to find their wines bursting with fine, fresh, floral fruit flavours that demonstrate most appealingly the quality and potential of the classic Chateauneuf ‘terroirs’ with the full spectrum of soils from sand and red clay to the renowned ’galets’ of this famous appellation. In addition to the excellent Chateauneuf du Pape wine, they also bottle a charming wine made most unusually from 100% cinsault called ‘Debut de L’Histoire’, while their inexpensive and characterful ‘Le Grand St Paul’ is a bargain and better than a lot of Chateauneuf du Pape. I cannot wait to return for a further visit.
